One of the most important activities for Joan Cerveró is the promotion and diffusion of contemporary music in all its spheres, and these extend from concerts to teaching, both for listeners interested in music or for uninitiated beginners as well as future professional musicians, eager to know and practice the new instrumental techniques. For this reason and as a complement to other activities, he created OÏDA | Course of Composition and Interpretation of Contemporary Music, under the patronage of the Valencia Institute of Music / IVM, the University of Valencia -Study General-, the Center for the Diffusion of Contemporary Music / CDMC -, the Professional Conservatory of Music of Valencia and the INAEM of the spanish’s Ministry of Culture.

Although it is true that there are other institutions dedicated to teaching music, it is no less true that contemporary music is, in general terms, very little present and applied in musical studies, which is why one of Joan Cerveró's missions, always through the Grup Instrumental de Valencia, was to recognize the need to support and expand the knowledge and diffusion of new music, through pedagogical activities aimed at young teachers and / or graduates, students from their final years of career and also as an information platform that brings together all those interested in creative music. A course that is not only that but also a meeting place and a forum for information and debate about the latest music.

The course has had four editions so far, its first edition being held in 2001.
